Annapolis Concert to Benefit Metastatic Breast Cancer Research
By Jeffrey A. Haines

The Compass Research and Support Program, an Anne Arundel Medical Center effort, will hold a benefit concert Thursday, November 20, at St. Anne's Parish on Church Circle in Annapolis.
A variety of accomplished performers are scheduled to appear. Organist Dr. Peter B. Corneliussen will play selections from Widor, Mendelssohn, and Buxtehude. Students from The Peabody Institute, including Cellist Jill Collier, Soprano Katherine Woodward, and Baritone Paul Coruja, will perform. Harpist Grace Wepner, who has appeared at Carnegie Hall, will also join the concert ensemble.
A silent auction, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., will feature a special one-of-a-kind quilt and several original paintings by local artists, including Erika Walsh, whose works are on display at the McBride Gallery. The concert will start at 7:45 p.m..
Metastatic (stage IV) breast cancer steals the lives of 41,000 Americans each year. Funds raised by the Compass program are used to further research that the group hopes will transition the terminal illness to one that is chronic.
Women afflicted with breast cancer are
encouraged to connect with others for support. Groups exist on both the
Anne Arundel County and
Eastern Shore sides of the Bay Bridge.
Tickets for the Compass benefit concert are
available online, or by calling (410) 280-5640.
